You’re a leader, you’re busy and you might just want to show up and answer the questions. But a little prep goes a long way. Why? Podcast guesting is a powerful way for you to share your voice and extend your influence.
Follow these 5 tips to be magnetic and leave a lasting impression ➜
1️⃣ Start with intention. Know the show, the host, and the audience. Watch/listen to one of their prior podcasts to get the vibe. What do they care about? Tailor your message to serve them, not just your agenda. Being memorable isn’t about self-promotion—it’s about connection.
2️⃣ Tell stories, not resumes. People remember feelings, not facts. Frame your expertise in personal, vivid anecdotes that show rather than tell.
3️⃣ Be clear and concise. Time is limited. Avoid jargon, acronyms and long-winded answers, please! Instead, focus on delivering clear, actionable insights with impact.
4️⃣ Bring energy and authenticity. Speak with enthusiasm and warmth. And don’t forget to smile even if you’re doing an audio only podcast and you’re not on camera. Audiences connect with leaders who are both knowledgeable and human.
5️⃣ End with value. Ask yourself (ahead of the podcast), “What do you want your audience to do, feel, or think as a result of listening to you? What’s your Call To Action?” Leave your listeners inspired to take some type of action.
Why this matters to you
When done well, podcast guesting builds trust, boosts credibility, and positions you as a leader worth listening to. Be generous with your insights and magnetic with your presence.

I’ve done some of these, and I’d include to be ready with your 30 second intro. you might have given it to the host (s) ahead of time, but they may still ask you, “tell us about yourself.” I go caught flat-footed a couple of times. Sure, you get through it, but you only have limited time, and you want to make the most of it.
Hi Harry – SOOOO true. It’s always good to have a short self-intro. That is such a good add. Thanks!!
