I didn’t know I needed a hot tub ► The Top Three Best Sales Tips

by | Aug 11, 2025

Meet our hot tub sales person, Erik, standing on top of the hot tub’s hard cover

You’re walking through the exhibits at a convention center and you see hot tubs. Along with the 4 hot tubs are several sales people… and one of them spots you.

You stop.

Let’s unpack what Erik did that made Jimmy and me put “Let’s buy a hot tub” in our brains!

🔥 1️⃣  Start with your unique VPS – Value Proposition Statement

When I say “start” that means the first words out of your mouth. Do not begin with pleasantries – you’ll lose the sale before you begin. Remember that the prospect’s Attention Real Estate is a tiny nanosecond.

Erik began with, “There are a lot of hot tubs out there. Here’s what makes ours unique and better than the rest …”  I’m hooked.

🔥 2️⃣  Overcome any and all obstacles

  1. Know what the drawbacks are for your product or service.
  2. Know how to overcome these obstacles.
  3. Share these problem-solving techniques with the prospect in an easy to understand manner.

Erik was ready!

“But you don’t use a hot tub in Texas during the summer.” “We use our hot tub all 12 months of the year and we live in south Texas. It’s refreshing in hot weather because your body is in the water. In fact it’s harder to get out of the tub in the winter when it’s cold!”

“I don’t like all of the chemicals like chlorine.” “Our hot tubs are ecofriendly – we use no chemicals.”

🔥 3️⃣  Believe in your product/service

Don’t rely on our 6th intuitive sense to transmit your passion for your service or gizmo. Go ahead and tell us!

Erik said, “I love this product. It’s easy for me to sell this because it’s the best and I have one in my backyard.”

🔥 Bonus: Show me the money

Well, there’s that. Refer to Tip #2 about overcoming obstacles. Either your product/service is competitively priced or you know you’re the most expensive item in that space and you know how to embrace that sticking point.

I’m getting a hot 🔥 tub to celebrate my next birthday.
