Let’s talk about all those skeletons in the room 💀 💀 💀
You bore your audience to death (or distraction) when you ➜
- Include no stories.
- Share just a bunch of data.
- Share too much info on each of your slides.
- Read the bullets on those slides. Bullets kill. *
- Look at the screen with your visuals rather than your audience.
- Start without gaining your audience’s attention.
- Conclude without a Call To Action.
- Forget to share What’s In It For Them, aka ROI (Return On Investment for the time they’ve spent listening to your speech/conversation or reading your emails).
- Confuse your listeners by being disorganized.
- Underestimate the level of experience of your listeners.
- Pace back and forth – it’s hypnotic in a bad way!
*Thank you, Region10 ESC
You resonated with this concept that “bullets can kill”! Welcome to this Speak For Yourself® blog. It was great speaking to you and your leadership team last week!
Happy Halloween!
Enjoy all those yard-art skeletons, but I don’t want any of them to show up in your audiences!

Happy Halloween!
We have received such great feedback from our team after your session last week! Also, you will be proud to know that I shared a story about my weekend with one of my team members instead of listing all the boring things I did over the weekend 🙂
Hi Rachel – Fabulous! Congrats on sharing a story, rather than a list, when talking to your team about your weekend. And thanks so much for your feedback about our @Region10ESC How To Communicate Like Duct Tape Workshop last week. Yay!
