A colleague just sent me this email:
You and I were talking on the phone many years’ back and you brought to my attention that I had cleared my throat WAY too many times during our conversation and that I might want to go see an ENT doctor.
I finally got diagnosed. I had NO airway to speak of. I had serious genetic sleep apnea and my airway was almost non-existent.
I have not been able to breathe…my whole life. I just did not know any different.
13 months ago I had double jaw surgery to open up my airway. It is now 4x the size. I can breathe!!!! For the first time in my life.
You identified it years ago. Now I can sleep for the first time in my life and….I don’t clear my throat anymore!
All my best,
Steve…..and I can breathe!*
If you have a chronic cough please seek medical advice. It could save your life. Or, slightly less dramatic, you could start sleeping through the night, breathe, and be in a better mood!
