Are you boring your audiences to death?

by | Oct 27, 2025

Let’s talk about all those skeletons in the room 💀 💀 💀

You bore your audience to death (or distraction) when you ➜

  1. Include no stories.
  2. Share just a bunch of data.
  3. Put too much info on each of your slides.
  4. Read the bullets on those slides. Bullets kill. *
  5. Look at the screen  rather than your audience.
  6. Start without gaining your audience’s attention.
  7. Conclude without a Call To Action.
  8. Forget to share What’s In It For Them, aka ROI (Return On Investment for the time they’ve spent listening to your speech/conversation or reading your emails).
  9. Confuse your listeners by being disorganized.
  10. Underestimate the level of experience of your listeners.
  11. Pace back and forth – it’s hypnotic in a bad way!

To avoid sending your audiences into a rigor mortis state, do the exact opposite on all 11 of these above items.

Karen spoke to APDP in Park City, Utah on How To Communicate Like Duct Tape – Get Stickier With Your Patients, Team and maybe even your family

You resonated with this concept that “bullets can kill”!  It was great speaking to you in Park City, Utah.

Happy Halloween!

Enjoy all those yard-art skeletons, but I don’t want any of them to show up in your audiences!
