1. Hire employees haphazardly. TIP:  Attract the best people.
  2. Use the ‘Lone Ranger’ approach to lead. TIP:  Listen with boundaries. In order to communicate effectively, your goal is to listen to your team rather than operate in isolation from the reality around you.  Your challenge is to find the balance between emotive caring and feeling personally burdened by the barrage of negativity that might be directed towards you.
  3. Be perfect all the time. TIP:  Embrace the paradox of perfectionism. As successful leaders, ‘perfectionism-itis’ may afflict you. Make the distinction between what is achievable and what isn’t and lighten up on your team and family.
  4.  Think strategically one day at a time. TIP:  Create a vision with meaning so that others are inspired.
  5.  Retain your employees at all cost. TIP:  Weed out the nonbelievers.
  6.  Expect loyalty. TIP:  Define the benefits to your team so that they want to follow you.
  7.  Take credit for all of the success in your organization. TIP:  Become the window or the mirror based on the situation (Jim Collins – Good to Great).
  8.  Retain your employees at all cost. TIP:  Weed out the nonbelievers.
